Salzburg!

Saturday we went to Salzburg, Austria which was another favorite for me.  We began at the castle above the city which had amazing views of the town.

Anna & her sister introduced me to Almdudler which tastes similar to Ginger Ale but much better.  They said it is a lemonade with herbs.  We just bought some for the car ride so my day is made!

We walked through the charming town & saw Mozart’s birthplace and stopped at Bosna Grill for some delicious sausages.  I’m going to be in search of this recipe to recreate for my brother, Josh.  It’s definitely a street dog he would appreciate.

Covered in spice with mustard and relish on the bottom.  There are two sausages on this bun.

Anna explained that Salzburg is famous for cake and coffee.  Of course we indulged.  I had the Mozart cake which was layered with cream and cherries.  Even Louis got his own cake.  I’ll have to dedicate an entry to Louis’ diet here.  If you know me, you know he doesn’t usually get cake let alone his own piece!  It’s vacation, right?

He really needed a nap but that wasn't happening until after "CAKE"!

After a long but lovely day in Salzburg, we took a scenic drive back to Cheimsee & stopped at Konigssee to see the lake.  It was really pretty and the water was clear of course.  There were naked little kids taking a dip in the cold water.  I wanted to put Louis in & Louis thought he wanted to do it but Joe wouldn’t go for it.  Louis settled on throwing rocks into the water.

We made our way back to Anna’s house for some delicious bbq meats that her dad was preparing.  We also had goat cheese and salad which was wonderful.  I need to get the recipe!  We watched to futbol game and the disappointing loss & stayed up late chatting on our last night with them.  They were terrific hosts spoiling us with good food, friends and gifts.
We left this morning (Sunday)after a nice breakfast and are onto Switzerland via Austria.  It was sad to go but Anna has decided we are on a 4 year rotation so we should see her in the US in 2016!  Here are a few more pics from the day.
