The boys played catch at the tailgate.
The dads were excited to pass KSU football pride down to the boys!
Watching the game!
After the game, we went out to Tuttle and got a campsite. Our friends came out for dinner but didn't stay to camp. Louis LOVED the RV and went to bed easily. The weather was perfect. No bugs either so Joe and I had some beers by the fire. It was really nice. Louis did wake up crying once during the night and Joe had to grab him as he ran toward the back door. I almost forgot his biggest injury was when our friends were still there. Not sure how it happened but he pushed on the RV door and flew out onto the big gravel. Joe saw him and said he was like a stiff board flipping through the air. He didn't cry too long and only had a few minor scraps on his head. We were lucky on that fall!
Setting up the campsite
Playing in the RV.
Colton taught Louis how to spin around a pole.
But when Louis did it he only wanted to strike a pose...yikes!
Wearing his boot slippers.
Winding down for bedtime!
Saturday we spent some family time in Aggieville. Here are a few highlights & the new places we tried.
I highly recommend Varsity Donuts if you haven't been. It's SO cute! Like an old fashion store and the donuts are super cheap and delicious! We don't normally eat sugar & sweets. I'm into clean-eating and lean to veganism if you don't know this already. I appreciate a worthwhile cheat once-in-a-while and this was! Somehow Louis knows when sugar is coming and learned the word "donut" right away.
We went to Varney's and the other KSU apparel stores.
A Salina original, Cozy Burgers has a walk-thru window and $0.89 hamburgers. We didn't try them but have heard from Salina locals that it's amazing. All I can say is THANK GOD this was not around in my day. I'm sure I would have gained about 40 lbs instead of the whopping 30 I packed on in college. There is a 6 pack of burgers you can buy too and I'm betting I could and would have taken them down at 2 am back in the day!
We had a nice lunch at Taco Lucha. It's got the So Long/Rock-a-Belly charm and good food. Louis loved the "spicy" salsa!
I'd say it was a successful trip and we can do a lot more family camping this summer! I still love Manhattan and look forward to the next visit!
