Girl Time = Much Needed Break

We are busy preparing for our trip to Germany.  I'll update our trip on this blog.  Here's a quick run-down.  A little boring...sorry.  But once again I can't remember ANYTHING.

Last week, I was like a mad women running around the house and cleaning.  My days are NOT wrapping up to be like the SAHM (stay-at-home-mom) world I dreamed about.  There just aren't enough hours in the day to get it all done.  Oh, and I savor sweet, sweet nap time!!  It's so nice to get a break and listen to music...quiet music.  It's peaceful.

Joe left me again last week for a business trip but we had a farewell with his birthday.  Does anyone else find after 30 you can't remember how old you are?  I am a year younger than Joe.  I know this is his 33rd year but I still wrote "32!!!" in his card.  I'm also usually terrible at gifts & get tons of anxiety giving them.  Especially because Joe is really good at them.  I was pretty proud this year as I gave him a drawing of his Corvair from Etsy.  Success!!

I shouldn't tell this little secret but I took a shortcut and got him a store bought cake.  I should have baked him something special but just couldn't pull it off.  Failure?  Louis didn't think so!

While Joe was gone, my friends came over to decorate for a bachelorette party.  Hayley brought Aiden and the boys had a little play date.  They were pretty good playing and watching Toy Story 3.

Aiden brought Louis to me when I called him.  Pretty cute when they walked in holding hands!

My mom had us over for dinner at the loft.  Louis has fun running around the space, playing with the cats and pulling his wagon.

Friday it was time for the bachelorette party for my amazing and beautiful friend, Melissa!  We celebrated at the Cellar Rat in the Crossroads and a few bars.  It was great to be with my best girl friends and get a tiny break from Louis.   I was a little strung-out that morning as I was trying to get ready with toddler running around.  I needed the girl time!

Running into our old friend, Carrie!
Bridal Shower
Sunday we headed down to the Brookside Art Fair to meet friends and met my mom & Tom out after for dinner.  Louis was pretty good.  He grossed our friends out by putting discarded meat skewers in his mouth.  He kept finding them on the ground and YES, that is SO gross but don't judge me until you have some kids.  It's impossible to keep them from doing gross stuff all the time.  He has totally relaxed me on my germ-phobia.  He was exhausted by dinner but the trick to keeping him happy is to keep stuffing him full of food.  Hopefully this will work in Germany too.

I'll try to post before Germany about what we have been up to this week.  I keep having these super original fantasies about my reality TV show "Travel with Toddlers".  Then I turned on PBS and saw "Travel with Kids".  WHAT?  That is MY show, right?  So much for being original...
